The Past
Odd things i thought i'd forgotten. Things i didn't even realise i knew.
They don't make any sense. They don't seem to be important.
Yet i remember everything about them.
If i close my eyes i can see what i'm recalling, so vividly i scare myself at times.
It's like a weak sporadic version of a photographic memory.
Today i remembered the red and black chipboard train in the park.
I don't know the name of the park, but i remember the sloping hills, the black iron fencing, the big white stone gateway where the ice cream truck used to stand.
I remember where the bus stop is, which side of the road we walked down and the scenary as we approached.
I remember the graffitti, the layout of the playing area and how often we used to go there. For a while anyhow.
I remember the pagoda, the benches under the trees and the grave yard you could peek into.
I loved playing on the train. Hiding in the different compartments. Pretending i was going on a journey.
Any journey, aslong as it was mine.
I don't know why i'm remembering some of the things i'm remembering.
But i'm happy i haven't forgotten.
